They say all good things must eventually come to an end, and it seems we may have finally reached the point where Rusko and dubstep go their separate ways.
‘Sunshower‘ marks a clear departure from the world of dubstep that first launched Rusko into the spotlight, but that in no way means it is a bad song. The playful synth and laid back groove allows Rusko to showcase a whole new set of skills, each better than the one before.
“This is the the first time I’ve ever released a record that’s not dubstep or drum and bass,” Rusko tells Rolling Stone. “It’s not house or techno either. I tried to create five fun tracks that fit into no genre – or maybe a whole new genre altogether.”
With a similar vibe to popular Australian producers Wave Racer, L D R U and Yahtzel there is already a big audience here for that sound and it will be interesting to see if the other 4 tracks from his forthcoming EP (dropping 29 July) follow down the same path.
