With a nod to the past and a big step towards the future we are proud to announce Sydney has a new late night bar and social club just outside the lockout zone. As of September 2016 this iconic venue located at 11a Oxford St Paddington re-opened as Goodbar.

New owner Scott Robertson (Division Agency, Seadeck, Brick Lane Double Bay, Days Like This Festival) teamed up with some of the industry’s heaviest hitters to transform the venue and present it in a revised dynamic format. The completely renovated venue will now house two distinct personalities although both are still very much music focused. The ground floor will operate as a cocktail bar five nights of the week and the lower basement level will run as a Berlin inspired underground club on weekends.

“I have been involved in the music industry and nightclubs for the last 20years. The exciting challenge for me with this project was to create a venue that was more than just a nightclub. I wanted to create an intimate environment where you would happily go for a mid-week cocktail and a bite to eat after work or a nice scotch after dinner but then on weekends the rest of the venue comes alive”.

Award winning design firm AZBcreative’s striking design recalls the best of underground Berlin and New York with their unique signature all through this space.

To operate as a great cocktail bar in Sydney, which already has a lot of fantastic bars, means you need to get it right. We have enlisted Jason Crawley of Drinks Cabinet, one of the best in the business to design our drinks offering and train up our team to deliver impeccable service. Jason has created a refreshing and innovative cocktail menu with somewhat of a healthy direction for Goodbar.
“The drinks are designed to be incredibly drinkable and addictively more-ish. Moreover, I also wanted to deliver a new experience of ‘scale’ and value; meaning the drinks are housed in gorgeous tall crystal glassware on NEW nugget ice and their whip-aerial straws are just a little larger than you would expect in a quality drinking establishment. Goodbar’s food menu has been curated by Drew Bolton (Vine Restaurant, Seadeck) and features his take on the bar classics with a gourmet twist. It includes a unique and creative grilled cheese menu, which will regularly update and feature specials.
“Goodbar’s menu is all about fun. A modern gourmet twist on classic bar food that goes hand in hand with a great bar atmosphere and fun night out with friends. Early standouts include the truffle butter popcorn and the grilled cheese sandwich with raclette, truffle, double smoked ham and pickled onions”. Drew Bolton

Production values are at the heart and soul of any good venue and they haven’t held back. Both the ground floor bar and the underground club boast a Void Acoustics sound system, delivering pristine sound. The underground club ceiling comes alive with state-of-the-art lighting designed by Dig Deep Productions, providing a truly immersive dancefloor experience and pulsing heart of the venue.
Friday nights at the venue are in safe hands with David Bangma and Nergal Youkhana launching ‘Peoples Club’ in a revised weekly format with an impressive list of forward thinking lineups Seekae, Detroit Techno Militia, Harvey Sutherland.

Weekly Saturday’s run as ‘Nights Like This’ co-promoted with Division’s long time events partner Paul Strange. With a house and techno music policy it has already presented an incredible list of International artists lineups including. Some of which many will be very surprised to see play in such an intimate environment.

Nights Like This has already hosted the likes of Seth Troxler, Green Velvet, Patrick Topping, Santè and Scuba.

Music programming for the other nights of the week will be curated by Division Agency’s dancefloor legend Trevene Patrick Keuneman with new plans to be announced soon.
